As I saw it, said Yellow Card. Then might be a red because of contact with head then ref said PK. What I am not sure about is what is the PK for. And if it was a PK not sure why no card.

    I'd say the opposite:

Anyone else YC. Because it's Farrell, penalty only.

At full speed I thought that, at best, it was late. The replays made it look worse - but you could argue that the expression on Owen Farrell's face and the direction of his gaze made it my suspect that there was intent. However, we cannot base our decisions on suspicion.

I thought the referee gave the PK for the late tackle - as opposed to dangerous tackle - in which case there is a choice and if the ball lands within 15m of the touch line the mark is on the 15m.

Bearing in mind the referee's explanation that OF was committed and trying to protect himself I was surprised that he awarded the PK - FWIW

So what are OFs options here?

    What he did - PK
    Wrap tackle - PK
Step back - maybe opportunity dummies the kick and runs past him.

Laidlaw took the resulting PK between the 5m and 15m lines when it should have been on the 15m (unless things have changed). He missed.
I would have thought an "expert" like GL would have spotted that.

From memory, around 70-72m, I don't have access to the game footage. He came off almost straight after, so you can tell by whether he's on the pitch or not.

    here you go

67 mins: The collision came when Farrell crashed into Darcy Graham as the Scottish wing tried to kick clear. The referee awards Scotland a penalty, but there’s no further action. Adam Hastings comes on for Maitland. And what’s this? Laidlaw’s going for the posts – from a long way out...

Through the replays I wasn't sure that there was anything to penalise. The ITV commentators certainly thought it was a fair accidental collision. But after thinking about it, what was Farrell attempting to do? It wasn't an attempt to charge down the kick or to (fairly) tackle Graham. The referee said he was trying to protect himself against being jumped into in Graham's follow through, but that doesn't explain Farrell's own jump. So I think he either aimed to make contact with Graham or was recklessly unaware of where he and Graham were and what was about to happen, so I think it was dangerous. I'm not sure it's right to call it a late tackle though - he seemed to launch himself very close in time to the beginning of the kick.
