Default WAL v IRE - in at the side

Was Tadhg Beirne unlucky to get pinged for in at the side?

I felt he wasn't, and that it was a fair call - but my friend watching with me, and some of the commentators, and the Telegraph all say he was harshly pinged.

    What do people think?

well this is what happens when players are permitted to just flop all over the place - latter arriving players can't actually join the "ruck" as the prone and flopped bodies obstruct the access to the pertinent areas.

So you either allow the flopping and then permit access from wherever as long as it doesn't extract the urine, or you ping both.

    IMO. FWTW.

    I'll get me coat.

I think it's IATS because he bound on a player other than his rearmost teammate.

I don't think he binds onto anyone, he just hits the red player?

Does it count if he binds onto the arm of the opponent?

By the letter of the law, he has to bind to the opponent's bodybetween shoulder and hip...

To join an existing ruck, players must bind with a team mate or an opponent.

yes. The contact bit is about the conditions for a ruck to have been formed. I did have to recheck myself. This new law book does have you doubting yourself from time to time!
