Question Can't pick and go at uncontested scrums?

From a local match report, ”You can’t pick and go from an uncontested scrum” not something I've heard in either direction, but can't see any obvious basis on law to prevent it? Assuming it had been properly uncontested etc?

Could it be a regional variation?

It's a fairly widespread urban myth

When going uncontested its well worth establishing with both teams, before the first one, what the truth is ... You can pick up.

Myth in my neck of the woods.
Often get asked during a game if we go uncontested.

Being often asked is a sure sign that different refs give different answers

Not in Wales. All the sides know it yet they still ask every time. Some put the 8 at 9 on their put in to allow him to effectively bypass the ruling.

A reason to be careful to establish under which union's control, you are asking the question.
