    Default Advantage Quiz again

Let's have a go at slightly tweaked version of this week's Advantage Quiz

    Red kick off.
The ball travels directly toward Blue 6 who is standing with foot in touch just inside the 10m line . Blue 6 catches the ball (which hasn't gone 10m) before it reaches the plane of touch.
He moves to the halfway line and takes a QTI

    Decision?

I have no idea if the ordering of the laws indicates priority, but there’s options for Not 10, and direct to touch, so manage it and get the captain to pick an option

    That's not much of a decision !
You have blown your whistle and are now consulting the Law Book ?

Blue has played the ball before it has gone 10 so that's taken into touch by Blue. Red lineout.

    I am with Dickie.
Catching the ball with one foot in touch means you took it into touch.
It was a law change a few seasons ago.

    Dickie is on the money
When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It is difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

Ah, misread that - yes of course, played and taken in to touch.

If it had been direct I'd probably just call the captain for options (let him decide which options he has ;-)) - but if pushed would start with not 10 and we'll probably have a scrum - but that's the answer to a different question!

I think I wasn't very clear about where Blue 6 was standing, so let's have two scenarios

A he is standing on the correct side of the 10m line
B he is standing on the wrong side of the 10m line

In both cases he catches the ball, with one foot in touch, before the ball crosses the plane of touch and before the ball crosses the plane of the 10m line

Scenario A - Lineout to Red (Blue player took the ball out)
Scenario B - Still lineout to Red providing the bit of the player that was slightly forward of the 10m line was in touch. If it was in the field of play and it was his back foot in touch, retake the kick.
If Blue had annoyed me previously in the game however I'd give whatever decision I thought would be more advantageous to Red.
