Spoke to soon, got my first L8 game (again!) Blaydon 2s vs Morpeth 2s, on 3G, so that’ll test the hamstrings

You are refereeing your home club in an U18s County Cup? Wow.
Be reasonable - do it my way.

First round, and necessary evil, I'm not normally available for Sunday appointments as I'll be with / reffing my sons team (U13) in the morning, but because it's cup weekend at pretty much all junior age groups we need a lot more society refs on a Sunday than normal (A lot of clubs use non society / club refs / coaches I guess on other weeks), I can be available as a one off at my home club as I'll be there which frees another ref to go somewhere else - not perfect, but becomes a question of which is least bad. If there was a non cup game at home then I would have been given that, but this is the way it falls.

This weekend - it's grim up North.

    D&N 1 - L7 (well they say it is)

    Acklam (Middlesbrough) v Novocastrians (Newcastle-u-Tyne)

First trip to Acklam since they've had their balcony added to the clubhouse.

I weighed 15st the last time I was there (about 2.5 years ago) and such was the huffing, puffing and wobbling about I got a Fitbit and decided to lose some weight which I've managed to keep off ever since - 13st 7lb.

It's grim up here right now, I work with a lad that plays for Acklam so will tell him best behaviour :-)

Acklam is the club who's pitches are in Middlesbrough (Unlike Middlesbrough who's pitches are in Acklam)!!

Well done with the weight: perhaps they'll let you on their new balcony!

Beautiful Dowlais Top for a youth cup match. There will be no flood there at least. It is rumoured that Noah's Ark ran aground there. 4 seasons in one day!

    Autumn - Wind & Rain
    Winter - Snow
    Spring - Strong "breeze" Rain
Summer - Slightly less cold than autum or spring but still rain!

This weekend - assuming I can shake off this cold.

    Yorkshire 1 - Level 7

Old Brodleians (Halifax) v West Leeds

    2nd v 4th

Brods undefeated thus far. WL relegated from N1E last season.

Should be good although muddy pitch and Brods slope should see off my poor old calves for 2019.
