    "Manage it".

Red score in the corner. Red teammates retire to their own 10m to receive the kick-off. Wind blows the ball off the tee three times as the sleet comes at you horizontally. You turn your back to the wind, the tee carrier holds the ball, the kick miraculously sails through goal, the score now stands at 42 - 7 and . . .

. . . you think I'm gonna wave it off and call for a Red player to come hold it so the kick can be retaken? Hahahahaha.

So you blow full time. 20 minutes later everyone's either having a beer or a shower. Light bulb moment for the ref: "the wrong bloke held the ball!". Everyone back on the field for a re-kick?

if I've already awarded the kick, then by law can I change my decision?

I'm with Dickie; disallowing the kick would be the kind of pedantry that gives referees a bad name.

I think you can, assuming game hasn’t restarted, but I agree with you, don’t think you should - mistakes get made
