......In a statement, the governing body said: “World Rugby can confirm that the match officials selection committee did not consider Jaco Peyper for selection this weekend. Peyper recognises that a picture of him with Wales fans, which appeared on social media after the Wales versus France quarter-final, was inappropriate and he has apologised.
Barnes for final surely if England don't get there? Otherwise Owens or Garces depending on whether Wales progress.
I didn't think Barnes had that great a game at the weekend...
He could easily have waited half a sec, and sent that disallowed try upstairs (I think video would have ruled not held and awarded the try)
For me the tackle around the neck of the player in the air was at least a YC - he didn't even give a PK
Beast's tackle, could easily be seen as RC
I've not watched the Japan game yet, but for me I wondered about Garces and the diallowed try - having allowed the run in he asked the TMO about the forward pass. TMO said they had aready looked at it and it was not C&O forward, but Garces wanted it on screen and then said C&O forward, which it was if you didn't allow for momentum when it was in my opinion, not c7o forward
Owens, another good game overall with clear explanations, but early line out he allowed Ireland to have two receivers, and when Ireland were pressing for the line he penalised NZ for tackling someone with out the ball, when that player was bound on to the ball carrier so it was really engaging with a maul formation, which I would have allowed, or do you thing you can only grasp the ball carrier, which his teammate was already set up to do. He correctly reversed the penalty for the shoulder at the next breakdown. And that penalty try?
Peyper let a bit of a bourach happen at the final scrum with Tiparic catching the ball at least a metre nearer the goal line than the rip. How that was not C&O forwards is beyond me, but then I am not an international referee!
