    Even more so, having each half start with a drop-out. The place kicks to start the match often left a tee in the middle of the pitch for several minutes of play.

    Clear to all watching although now I think about it. Did we have "temporary suspension" before cards?

    I can't recall playing in a game where someone got sent off - bear in mind (pre-leagues) we were playing games against North Nottinghamshire teams during and after the Miners' Strike 1984-1985 - oooohhh!
    There was a period where the law only required the showing of cards at international matches. There was thus some uncertainty about why a grass roots player left the field.
