    Default World Bowl

What if all the 3rd and 4th place teams, instead of going home, were now playing QF SF and Final in a World Bowl ?

Games would be midweek Wed and Thu, preceding the equivalent Cup games on the Sat / Sun

What's not to like about that idea ?

That would be great, and we could hand out participation ribbons to everyone too.

Even if they do at RWC 2023 the chances of the Eagles getting a ribbon must be pretty slim.
They have slipped to 17th in the World Rankings, not that far off slipping outside the Top 20 over the next 4 years. Mocking is catching they say.

I think it's a good idea personally. Clubs would object, so it probably won't ever happen.

I remember in 2011 it was a real shame that the pool stages ended and there was a week between games and all the lesser teams went home. You would get good crowds for these games in medium sized stadiums.

The developing nations could do with a few more games against teams on their level.

    I agree
Put those games on in the same cities as the Cup games (smaller stadiums, same cities) and I reckon the traveling fans would pack them out .. and we'd have good TV audiences as well . I think it would be brilliant

    The QF would be
    Scotland Namibia
    Samoa Italy
    Argentina Georgia
    Tonga Fiji

I think it would be really good competition.. and it might even have injected some extra passion in some group games

It would generate some exciting rugby

It would be a good gap filler in the middle of the week while we wait for the main games on the weekends!
I thought I'd be all rugby'd out by now but I've missed not having midweek games to watch after coming home from work.

Sometimes crossref you actually have a good idea. Not sure I'll be voting you onto the WR board just yet...But this one if yours has some merit.

Those are some good match ups. The semifinals would be great as well. This would be marvellous innovation for the lesser teams and enable them to test themselves against teams on their own level.

Hopefully the cash generated would be adequate to cover the national team extra costs. The extra exposure and tough games should enable those teams to get more big game experience without too much additional outlay.

I agree, I think the games would be poplar -- all these rugby fans in town, with no games to go to...
