    +1
30,000 tickets sold is probably 10k per player before the TV rights, which should help the amateur teams stay the extra week.

Another advantage of having a Bowl : we could then do away with the RWC 3rd/4th place playoff .. we would have the Bowl Final instead

Yes! And both losing semifinalists could get a bronze medal - happens in other sports without the need for an anti-climactic playoff.

Not so sure about the "clubs wouldn't agree" bit. maybe aside form the "obvious minnows" players clubs would be having to plan for their RWC players' involvement to potentially last until the final. I think the idea has much merit.

As for same cities for the bowl... whilst I have no axe to grind here, maybe its an opportunity to take the roadshow onto towns and cities that otherwise wouldn't get a look in, grounds etc availability notwithstanding obviously.

It is a tos up between attracting the fans of the bigger teams who are in town waiting for their match and spreading the matches.
If I am in London for a semi final between Australia and New Zealand at the cabbage patch on Saturday - am going to hoof it to Worcester to watch Uruguay v Tonga on the Friday night and risk not getting back. But if it is a the Stoop I may well go and check out the pubs for the following day.
The matches need to raise enough money to compensate the players and officials involved and ideally generate extra revenue to go back to the unions.
I think the argument for spreading games comes in the pool stages - like Japan SA in Brighton.

I would have the Bowl games on Wed and Thurs (final on Thur)
They would be in locations convenient for Cup fans . . So smaller stadiums in the same city, or indeed well chosen other cities close by, with good transport links
