For me it depends on what the card is for, but as it is almost always foul play, I stop the clock and use that as a time to allow tempers to cool, and to get the name, offence and time written down I usually will also explain to the opposition and remind them the matter has been dealt with.

Yup, if foul play I’ll take as long as it takes to cool things down, and that way I don’t take any game time away from the non infringing team

I think you have to be a bit careful with this, sometimes your effect might be to rob the non offending team of all momentum, and giving the offending team time to calm down, communicate, get breath back and organise the defence

Sometime I think it will be appropriate to show a very quick no nonsense YC , card back in pocket, make a mark, Mon offending team can quick tap from it and run

You'd allow play to restart with the carded player still on the pitch?

You'd allow the YC player to dictate how long you will wait until you restart the game ?

There is a pragmatic middle way right?

Sometimes, yes. But this can be a flash point for further foul play. Safety first.
I, for one, like Roman numerals

    Indeed
But the YC might not have been for foul play, might have been a cynical or repeated offence .

Like I said .. sometimes that might be appropriate.
