    Default Offsdie oddities #4

asking in a separate thread so as not to bog down the other one.

    red fly hack on.
    blue chase back
blue 7 reaches ball but under pressure. He deliberately HEADS the ball past the onrushing opponent who runs past everybody, and red oppo falls over and stays there.
blue 7 falls over his own feet and doesn't move any more for the duration of this convuluted scenario.

Blue 9 is chasing back and is "in front" of blue 7 (ie red side of him).

Blue 9 runs past the ball.
Blue 9 runs past blue 7.
Blue 9 stops, turns run back upfield and gathers the ball just before thye next red can get there

    Is blue 9 offside?

Im pretty sure I know the answer to this one but I want to check!

No, he's gone behind blue 7.

No, he's retreated behind the last teammate to play the ball before advancing to play the ball.

It was serious. Because i'm painting scenarios whereby blue 9 is not offside. So basically in this scenario indeed he is not offside. The only difference being it seems the ball has moved towards red from blue 7 instead of away from red as per the original oddity query. Which many are claiming IS offside in that scenario.

Hence my point about 30 players and benches and blazers and man plus dog all wondering WTF is going on when blue 9 gets pinged for offside in the original oddities situation.
