We follow the teams out here, usually give a 20min warning, then as im leaving the pitch following my warm-up ill give them the time again and then knock on the door means out now.
Courage is knowing what lies on the other side and still opening the door !

All this stuff about knocking on the door assumes I know which of the 10 changing rooms each team is in! Most of the time it’s hard enough to find my own broom cup add let alone where the big fellas are.

i still find it very strange how apoplectic all the coaches were about this one decision. Personally I thought there was a lot more they could go at than an obscure pre match penalty which would likely have no real bearing on the game.

Next time dead. It doesnt happen often as there should be a 10 min or so window between games.

The ball was not dead, there is time for a lineout following a PK to touch. Surely you can tell him. Would you at 20-19 deny a conversion attempt for the side on 19 points because he wants the pitch?

We don't have this issue in the USA, no changing rooms makes things simple, also less time constraints here as there will usually only be 2 matches on any pitch max.

I agree. Normally the next ref just starts pacing agitatedly on the sideline shooting you looks.

The guys who do private school First XV games here can be a little, hmmm, lets say precious (not unlike the Nigels and Tristans in the teams).

In all seriousness, find out where they are so you can use it. Locate your changing room and the teams'
When I was in the UK, if the teams were coming in, I made a point of knowing where they were so I could knock them out.

Where do the players and ref get changed then?

I have never knocked on a changing room door
