Default another kick at goial kicked for try post!

we've been here before ... no diea oif this is visible to everybody and anybody

    https://twitter.com/i/status/1204368301012537345

I can view that in edge without logging into twitter so it shoud be available for those without an account.

The ball is definitely on a tee which would indicate a kick for goal.

    Law 8.20
If the team indicates to the referee the intention to kick at goal, they must kick at goal. The intention to kick can be communicated to the referee or signalled by the arrival of the kicking tee or sand, or when the player makes a mark on the ground.

The two purple shirts behind the goal would seem to be the ARs, and there is no AR in the corner where the "try" is scored firther incating the ARs are inded behind the goal.

So how on earth did the ref EVER award that try?

Brain fart? lack of law knowledge.

    Critical error surely?

(of course the TMO or ARs may have intervened for a cancellation!)

and there are trainers/medicos dicking around with the Blue team suggesting time off. What may be described as a Charlie Foxtrot.
I, for one, like Roman numerals

The replies on twitter say it was actually disallowed

Clearly not allowable and one could argue a YC to the kicker for his actions.

The referee does come to his senses and he dissalowed the try. At that level I'd consider a YC, At my level it's possibly a learning point. For both sides. Looking at the defence all were tucked near the posts. Now it is possible for a bounce of the posts or for the wind to take the ball. It's well worth fanning out in case a genuine poor kick of bounce occurs and the ball ends up wide out (Legally)

So, how did / should play continue?

There is no saction in the law for this. It just says it cannot be done and the kick MUST be at the posts (nbotwithstanding hours spent practiseing a fluffed kick that looks like a geneuine one that ends up in the corner by accoident etc - lets not go down that path!)

    So you're saying

    Ho? No comment

    Should? Take the kick again

    Is that right?

Well - the laws dont say what SHOULD happen in these circumstances.

All it says is it cannot be done.

So penalise under the catch all "Act contrary to good sportsmanship", if you think you have to.
But I would have thought disallowing the try and restarting with a 22m drop out would be correct and would make the kicking team look like plonkers

Although elsewhere in the tome that is LotG it does say that for other incorrectly taken kicks the sanction is a scrum with the opposition throwing in the ball.
