    No one said "control", the OP said "possession". A player in possession can be tackled.

    I agree with Dickie

    If it get very, very messy with lots of bodies on the floor and ball is not playable just blow whistle and restart with a scrum.

    This was my initial thought, was a ruck created then illegal action by red? But would really need to see it to let you know my split second decision. Just remember unless it was a howler, the ref got it right!
