Default What is the actual point of linesman now?

As per title, were starting to see more and more dangerous play in and around the ruck. Players flying in with arms tucked, neck roles etc. Surely the referee has a duty of care to the vulnerable players contesting for the ball?

As can be seen from the link, tom curry is lifted above the horizontal onto his head. Then to add a bit more salt into the wound, Williams then strikes the player in the face / throat area with the elbow. Yet the touch judge does nothing, both acts warrant a yellow card but ignored.
Is this type of clear out now sanctioned cos that's a large chance of damaging the neck of the rucking player.

Ignore him. He only ever resurfaces when he has an axe to grind with a televised referee. In his 8 posts on the forum, he hasn’t once contributed anything positive.

Not sure about touch judges, but Assistant referees do call in foul play,
85th minute punch which decided the result of Cambridge v Moseley yesterday.
Red card on AR report - stopped Moseley when they had a good chance of the winning score.
Ref was following play and unsighted.

It had been an interesting last minute.
There was a penalty leading to a line out which was not thrown straight.
Sir correctly said there had to be a scrum. Which led to another penalty.
