• Congratulations Bryan

Congratulations to RugbyRefs.com Member Bryan Arciero on being named as a Referee for the iRB's Junior World Rugby Trophy to be held in the USA this year.

Bryan has been a member of RugbyRefs.com for a number of years, and is considered one of the forums most knowledgable and senior referees.

On behalf of all our members at RugbyRefs.com I would like to wish Bryan all the best for the tournament that starts today. For those not aware who Bryan is he's the guy at the sides of the website (unless you are viewing in IE and then he's the arm you can see).

    Referees:

    James Bolabie (FRU)
    Vlad Iordachescu (FRR)
    Shuhei Kubo (JRFU)

    Mauro Rivera (UAR)

    Assistant Referees:

Big ups to Andrew Hosie who is flying in to take my place while I recover, as well as to Chris Assmus who replaces Dave! Well deserved and fantastic opportunity for these high-calibre referees!

Where does Chris Assmus hail from? (Or should that be, from where does Chris Assmus hail?)
And to think that English is my 1st language.

      No it shouldn't.

It is not a grammatical error to use a 'preposition' to end a sentence with. Try recasting "Come in."

The so-called preposition is in fact part of the verb and in English it happens to have the same spelling as the associated preposition. There is an equivalent usage in German. The verb "aussehen" means " look, appear, seem". If you want to say "She looks beautiful" you can say "Sie sieht schön aus". The supposed preposition MUST go to the end of the sentence – it is a grammatical rule.

      Is "Come in" a sentence?

      What is the subject?

Since when did the imperative require a subject?

(When I was 11 and parsing sentences at school, we were required to put "Subject: You (implied)" in such cases.)

So if Chris Assmus was the subject, from which union/country would he be performing said task?

Thanks all around! Really pleased! First time ever going to Vegas, and quite proud that my statement of "the only way I'm going is if I get to referee" is coming true!

It will be a fun ride, but holy f**K I'm going to enjoy working my arse off in the next 6 months!

I tried to add a video link above , of one such example Personally I'd like to see...

I have such mixed thoughts on this. 1. Interviewer (gender irrelevant) clearly attempts to bait Farrell 2. Interviewer cops social media abuse for doing so 3. Interviewer sits in car crying because of the abuse 4. RFU apologises for the abuse Something about "heat" and "kitchens" comes to...

I’m English, I’m biased, but not convinced the French ref is having a good game. In reverse order; 2nd Welsh try, for me the Welsh winger is in possession as trying to gather the ball, knocks forward on to himself, doesn’t regather therefore a knock on. 1st try, kudos to Wales for spotting...

Thinking about the debate the Johnny May try has created I think world rugby need to look at this and clarify what constitutes a fair competition.
