I made the mistake of reading some of the comments...so glad I no longer have a FB account.

So much context is missing (in-game timestamp, tone of play up to that point, etc) that it's hard to say whether the referee could have managed it better - yelling at thrower to let go, being quicker with the whistle re: recipient being in the wrong place.

Penalize for dangerous play or for not binding? Or neither and just have a word. It wasn’t particularly dangerous, especially from the results based perspective so much of foul play is evaluated against now…
