Thoughts on this?

Two angles of the same play.

Turnover penalty for South Africa or penalty for Argentina (not supporting his weight, hand on the ground before he tries to jackal)?
instagram is such a painfully useless tool for video without a pause/play function, but at elast it's not geoblocked.

hands clearly on the ground, so could have blown that up and penalty to Arg and no one would have complained. but this is SVNS, high tempo, high ground to cover, lots of errors, part of the game.

Understand lots of errors and high tempo but the ref and the AR were right there and ignored a blatant penalty. Hey ho, that's showbiz rugby!

Chopperesque "But he was the only tackler there, when he lifted his hands and went for the ball he WAS (and always was) the back foot of his side of the ruck" Perhaps that was their thinking?

Is it reasonable to occupy that space due to an offence. Surely that's why we wish to see clear tackle release and then jackle.

That's part of my pet hate with the jackle as an acceptable tactic. You want the ball, you stand strong and dominate the space and then lift. Hands on ground beyond the ball does not always paint the right picture about a reasonable or equitable contest it is often just sealing off.

Is there an offense? He's a tackler, he's allowed to go to ground (and he's a tackler only by definition when he does goes to ground). As long as he gets back up before playing the ball

I think it is telling that the highlights do not include a replay.
And the ref did not give a secondary signal, so is he penalizing for holding on or for dangerous entry to a ruck.
I thought the Green player went off their feet.
The two blue players arrive at pace - but this is international rugby, I did not think it was dangerous for that level.
