U19 7s Scrum

Referees in America
Red has a scrum at their defensive 5m line.0 Blue gets a very good push, and within a second the scrum reaches the in-goal, where the Blue hooker grounds the ball.

Does the "1.5m push" variation also cascade down to 7s?

U19s is a variation (of 15s), 7s is a variation (of 15s), but there is no U19s 7s variation, so I’ve always treat them as separate things, so no, doesn’t apply for me - although I get the logic.

Equally I’ve never seen a 7s scrum survive 1.5m!

Logic dictates that you take the 15s laws (and consider age grade issues) then you add the 7s variations into the pot. U19 do not push past 1.5m end of.

Given that a 7s scrum is less stable than a 15s scrum it is crazy to suggest that a 5 mtr push is acceptable in age grade 7s.
A 7s scrum collapse is much less dangerous than a 15s, as you're missing two rows of heavy forwards driving your hips up to your shoulders as you go down. I'd say if there's a 1.5m rule it's for consistency rather than safety

I disagree. The speed that a 7s scrum can go wrong is a big factor. With a 15s scrum you can call stop etc no chance in 7s. I'd be most worried about u19s spinning and twisting.
