Where are you this weekend? - 2025/26

Only 2 adult games planned for Saturday in the county so a rare, for me, Sunday game in my home town Furness U18 v Winnington Park U18.
Assume it will be fast!

I'll be going to Rotterdam for their game against Tilburg. I haven't reffed either for a couple of seasons, it should be an interesting match. RRC came up and RCT came down last season; the home team are holding their own mid-table and the visitors are second in the league.

1st team County Cup round in Durham so I have Ryton (L7) vs Durham City (L6)on Saturday and Stockton U16 vs Westoe in their Cup game on Sunday

This weekend:-

First proper whistle blowing referee gig of the year.

  • Hill House School 1sts v Birkdale School 1sts

Hope I haven't forgotten what to do. Two minor public schools from South Yorkshire, the former from Doncaster and the latter from Sheffield

I presume they'll be the usual Barbour clad and Hunter shod mummies and daddies bawling nonsense.

Anyway it'll either confirm I still like the odd run out with the whistle or it'll make me glad to get back to waving a flag in Nat 2.

Picking up a flag yet again

NCR Men’s Regionals @ Springfield, MO

Friday - D2 R16
UChicago vs Benedictine (KS)
Loyola-Chicago vs Colorado Mesa

Saturday
D2 consolation (Friday losers)
D3 Quarterfinal

Sunday
D2 quarterfinal (Friday winners)

Two centers, two ARs to cover all of it

And a cracking game it was too. 22-5. The game is safe in these young guys hands.
This week , a weekend off for the delights of Bratislava!

Barnard Castle School U16s vs Durham School tomorrow night then Stockton vs Ponteland (L7) on Saturday - weather allowing, first snow and ice of the season last couple of days

U18 women's game tomorrow Two new sides to me.
Wednesday Women's BUCS cup game to side both on 3 from 3 in their league could be a cracker.

So fun pack couple of days coming up. Part of the Dubai 7s team (not with the whistle or flag though, well not yet...). 2 days prep and then the comp starts Friday through to Sunday.

Have a feeling I will be darting around doing admin in tents etc but I'm fine with that. Get a full access pass to all the entertainment and players lounges etc. Should be a fun experience, especially with refs flying in from all over the place. Even have a match observer from my Society back home coming over so will be good to catch up

L6 league, West Hartlepool vs Durham City - both teams under par by their own standards this season so shall see who turns up on the day

L 7 Windermere V Cockermouth tommorrow. Both good teams to ref who try to throw the ball around but unfortunately it looks like its going to be p*ssing it down all day so a mudbath is likely. This was the same venue a few years ago!Day 8 Windermere mud.jpg Must remember to get in the showers early!

This week is:
Wednesday BUCS Cardiff L IIII V Hartpury III
Sunday Welsh Womes Plate QF LLantwit Fadre L V 7 Sisters L

The first looks like an away win.
The second could be carnage. Home team is bottom of the Championship with 0 from 5 the Visitors are second in the Premiership with 4 from 5

But rugby has that ability to throw out a curve ball.

Whistle and flags hung up until March. Still training 4-5x/week, but switching the focus to speed training

This weekend back on the flag after refereeing 2 weeks ago and last weekend in Ireland:-

N2N AR2
  • Fylde v Sheffield Tigers
Despite being on NLMOT for over 3 years now, never been to Fylde before. 200 mile round trip.

5th v 10th

Fylde 5 pts adrift of 4th place and 10 pts clear of 6th in a little oasis of mid table obscurity.

Millom V Ambleside this week Cumbria L7. No matter how much it rains, the sandy pitch will be playabel, just hope the road is open as the tides are quite high this week!

Off to London for daughter’s birthday on Saturday, but have Durham Uni vs Darlington on Friday night which should be a decent pace on 3G

Potentially game of the week in Durham for me, L6 Consett vs Sunderland, 2nd vs 3rd in Regional 2 North, only a point between them.

Hopefully warmer than the sideways storm and -2 wind chill I had on 3G Friday night

I've never been so cold as i was at Fylde last weekend.

Fylde didn't upload the game as I presume between the rain, the dark and the shit lights, you couldn't see anything.

That's the second half and Fylde (amber white maroon) had changed their shirts at half time. 😲

Windermere v Egremont Cumbria L 7 this week. Final match, probably of 2025 for me as there are no planned fixtures for this league.
