Where are you this weekend? - 2025/26

This week is:
Wednesday BUCS Cardiff L IIII V Hartpury III
Sunday Welsh Womes Plate QF LLantwit Fadre L V 7 Sisters L

The first looks like an away win.
The second could be carnage. Home team is bottom of the Championship with 0 from 5 the Visitors are second in the Premiership with 4 from 5

But rugby has that ability to throw out a curve ball.
Well this week it is:

Buck on Wednesday (that was a 65-0 win for the home team. The visitors told me their aim was to score the first try against to home side in the league this season. They did not stop trying!)

Tomorrow I have a Youth Cup Semi -Final. The away side are new to me.

Sunday is a second attempt to beat the weather for: Welsh Womes Plate QF LLantwit Fadre L V 7 Sisters L.

Fingers crossed we get some rugby on the grass.

I've never been so cold as i was at Fylde last weekend.

Fylde didn't upload the game as I presume between the rain, the dark and the shit lights, you couldn't see anything.

That's the second half and Fylde (amber white maroon) had changed their shirts at half time. 😲

Is that Dave C in the middle? Looks far too clean, it trying hard enough,

I’ve been sent up North on Exchamge now so Morpeth (new club to me) vs Upper Eden, both middling away at L6. After two weeks of soaked to the skin I’m mostly hoping for dry!

It is indeed. Needless to say he got lots of pats on the back after game so was as black as a**eholes after we finished.

This weekend is “Derby” weekend in National Leagues.

This weekend I am AR2 for N2N game:-

  • Hull v Hull Ionians

Hull in 12th with 2 wins. Ionians are 6th.

Hull are fortunate to be looking like not the worst team in N2N. It’s a toss up between them, Rossendale and Scunthorpe.

Well a great cup game on saturday Never more than a score in it and 3 yellow cards and the Home team scoring the winning trywith 10 mins left. There followed some end to end rugby. Visitors arrived with15 players so fair play to them it was a great contest. I had its feisty moment. Hense the first two cards but it then settled down. A good advert for Youth Rugby.

My Sunday game was called off wit hthe (weaker) home side withdrawing from the Cup.

I was then woke by the phone on Sunday morning with the offer of a Womens Friendly 29-0 at half time and 36-0 at the finish. If only the visitors had got out of bed earlier!

As it stands I have a break until the new year.

I spoke too soon, county appointments and unavailability so I now have Upper Eden V Consett North 2 L6.
That's put a dampener to my Friday session with my old teammates, Guinness zero it is!
Match there Sunday was off, waterlogged and it hasn't really stopped raining so could be off anyway,

on that basis id just drink full fat guinness/whatever!

Happy new year all.
My first run out on Saturday Hawcoat Park 2nds v Garstang 2nds in a friendly fixture as my home club tries to resurrect the 2ndXV after a few years without one. Should run off a few pounds!

My fixture for the coming Saturday has already changed. A local game now. St Albans II V Pentyrch Rams. It should be a tidy contest.

Early appointments this week as our Appointments sec tries to place us on games that avoid the M6!
If you know anyone travelling in the Penrith area over the weekend tell them to plan in advance, the M6 is shut and there will be long delays!

Millom v Whitehaven Cumbria L7. Should be a tight game.

Weather allowing Durham vs Sunderland (L6) 10th vs 4th however a very young Durham City picking up some decent performances over the last few games whilst Sunderland who were flying after being promoted into this division have last the last couple so could be a close game

After Christmas and cold weather I'm back in the National Leagues.

This weekend I am AR2 for N2N game:-

  • Macclesfield v Preston Grasshoppers

Macc are 2nd and Preston (8th) lost to basement dwellers Hull at home last week so not expecting anything other than a home win.

3rd time doing Macclesfield this year (2 previous gigs saw them scoring 60+ points each time) although I have never visited their place - ever.

Edit: It appears the referee for this game is a young man who has a very handsome father - so I'm told.

This weekend I'm back to 4th official.

Dubai Hurricanes v Abu Dhabi Harlequins in West Asia Super Rugby.

7.30pm KO. Will be nice under the lights at the 7s Stadium.

Last week was game of (two weeks in a row). Fingers crossed for this one. A tidy game Aberdare II V Caerphilly II on Saturday and running touch in the Women's prem on Sunday Pontyclun V Caernarvon.

West Asia Super Cup?

That has a touch of the "World" Series about it.
You have misread that. It's West Asia Super Rugby. But your point still stands. It's not all that "Super" and there don't seem to be that many teams. Probably standard is L4/5 from the UK. Very physical though. That would be the SA influence
