RugbyRefs.com is delighted to offer you the chance to compete against each other on two competitions for the Rugby World Cup.

We have a Prediction Comp, for predicting Match winners & margins, and a Fantasy comp for those who are a little more into their rugby, to see if they can manage their perfect team.

The two comps are hosted by SuperBru and are open to RugbyRefs.com people on all utilised platforms (website, Facebook & Twitter).

You have 13 days to get your selection in for the first round, and to select your ultimate team for the Fantasy competition.

A while ago during my search for prizes and items for auctions for the upcoming 10th anniversary of RugbyRefs.com I managed to make contact with former Test Match Referee, now iRB Referee Selector & Head of SANZAR Referees Lyndon Bray. (Pictured Left).

I wasn't very sure what I could ask/beg for from Lyndon, considering that the individual unions are in charge of their referees' kit, so I asked if he would mind answering a few questions. Lyndon replied within minutes congratulating us on the significant milestone and agreeing to answer some questions.

So then the hunt was on, I posted a thread and allowed the members to choose the top questions by way of liking the posts they thought were worthwhile. After just over a week I collated all the questions, and sent them on to Lyndon for answer.

Considering Lyndon's place on the iRB I also thought it was a great opportunity to clear up a couple of areas of law that we believed needed more clarity and Lyndon was again happy to give his opinion.

So, Without further ado, here are the questions that our members put to Lyndon, and of course, his answers:

    Question 1:
We have seen in this year's edition of Super Rugby (especially in the latter half of the season), a tendency for referees to rule that the ball is "out" of a ruck when the halfback has a hand ...

I wish I could sit back and regale you with tales of my Super Rugby and Test refereeing career, but I cannot. My career as a referee peaked some time ago, and it was more like a small hill than a soaring peak. I am not holding my breath waiting for the phone call inviting me into the Super Rugby referees Squad, but just in case Lyndon my number is in the book. These days I spend more time coaching referees than refereeing, but I am happy with that. I see my job now as helping develop the next generations of referees. Inevitably among the young guys, the question comes - So what does it take ...

    Line out maul

    Thread Starter: lawsons

What am I missing? Line out to blue. Red don’t engage. Blue bring the ball down and form their mail. This would happen immediately. Ball at the front. Under the new one person latched law, I assume they must either delatch to one person prior to a tackler engaging or run the risk of being...

Two incidents for me. One blindingly obvious, the other confusing. Jordie Barrett (who, with his brother, account for 33% of AB red cards) sent off for doing a Hastings. Went up to collect a high ball, extended his leg, with the end results of studs in face of Koroibete. Offski. The...

    Age Grade Variations

    Thread Starter: GuildfordRef

Can someone help me out with the document from England Rugby at this link: The variations it mentions aren't given in the Reg 15 Appendices, and none of the coaches I spoke to at my first match of the season knew anything about the document either. Anyone know if when / where the variations in...

Can you have a quick goal line drop out?

    Thread Starter: ctrainor

Had this scenario yesterday. After my first game, I refereed the second half of a lower grade game that had no appointed ref. Red v Black. Red generally young and inexperienced, black, good mix of old heads and young players, both teams with very varied levels of fitness and black deserved...

"Why the **** did you do that?"

    Thread Starter: TheBFG

So Saturday afternoon, good open game, no foul play (that i saw) in the whole game! L6 match  Part way through the first half, away side have a solid scrum ball held at the #8's feet, scrum half of the same team reaches down and picks the ball up, there's then a call from the pack leader...
