Re: Where are you this weekend - 2021/22?

We are going from 48 to 56 teams at levels 3 and 4 - plus we will have an extra game at level 1 when they move to 14 and unknown extra games at level 2 - who have not made up their minds.

    There...

    Re: Rugby 12s

World Rugby is moving to limit contact training.
They should also limit the ammount of playing time, otherwise coaches will organise training matches to get round the ban.
    Which should rule out...

The problem for me is that I can get in position early, be perfectly positioned to catch the ball without risking jumping, and if someone jumps at me, I can be red carded.

    [Law] Re: Preventative Refereeing

A lot of rugby s subjective and the players - and the ref - have partial views.
So if the person whose view matters clearly calls, tackle, ruck or maul - nobody else will argue.
    Offances need to...

[Law] Re: 50/22 from a FK

It is telling the law book team credits a graphic designer, but does credit a technical editor.

It needs a professional editor, ideally one who does not play rugby so they do not assume they know...

[Law] Re: 50/22 from a FK

I was watching Cambridge II v St Ives and saw my first 50-22, I think everyone else was surprised when the ref gave the throw to the kicking team.

[Law] Re: 50/22 from a FK

Yes 18.8.c Ball kicked from a penalty now says "either directly or first bouncing in the field of play or hitting an opponent or the referee" kicking team takes throw.

[Law] Re: 50/22 from a FK

I think we are saying if the mark for the stoppage was in the defensive half, he 50/22 is on, until the ball crosses the halfway line.
You do not need to think about what happened before that.

[Law] Re: 50/22 from a FK

But surely that is true for every elite interpretation of the law.
There is nothing in writing that says that a scrum half can stand at 45 degrees and feed their second row.
    Indeed I would...

[Law] Re: 50/22 from a FK

So while "Penalties and free-kicks are awarded to restart play after infringements." (law 20 principles) they are not a restart kick as defined.

[Law] Re: 50/22 from a FK

Presumably, the blue scrum-half touched the ball while the forwards were setting the scrum.

Yes, but we already know it works, as it has been used for virtually every rugby match in England for many seasons.

    Re: 'Rugby greats' letter

Interchanges also simplify the law book.
    We would lose 3,4, 3.9, 3.17 and 3.21-23 and 3.25 to 3.34
3.5 is editted to read five.
The table in 3.8 needs a new column for the number of interchanges...

Re: Charity Game with scrums and new laws!

Am I right in thinking that as with a 22, the goal line drop out can be taken anywhere across the pitch?

    Re: 'Rugby greats' letter

I would go with interchanges, but reduce the bench to 5. Works fine in the semi-pro game and simplifies the law book.
