[Law] Re: Jumping or Diving Clarification required

when you say 'we', who do you mean and on what authority?
  3. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

woe betide the lineout jumper who juggles the ball before tapping it back to the SH. In Wales, anyway.
  4. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

a corollary. Using Belladonna's stills in #142, if Red 14 had then fallen over the goal line while maintaining continuous contact (ie no daylight) between hand/finger & ball, would that be a try?

unrelated but noting 10 years since Didds won "non-referee of the year". Happy anniversary! :)
  7. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

I know this might be difficult, but can you cite these?
  8. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

I'm glad WB has posted that. Has clearly confirmed my understanding

OK. A question. Do you think she has intentionally deflected any criticism of the terrible interview by drawing attention to her emotional response to the abuse?

    Re: Sonja drama

this is only true if the trolling is solely directed at a woman/women. I doubt that to be the case but would be interested if there is any evidence to support.
  12. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

    no you don't
  13. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

that's exactly what I think the reasoning was.

If a player did similar over the goal line (made continual contact with the ball with his hand until the grounding) would we award a try?

    Re: Sonja drama

I think that is not reasonable. I only saw the Farrell piece but the interviewer would know full well that Farrell would have got a big smack from WR or RFU if he'd answered those questions honestly....

    Re: Sonja drama

Yes, trolling is deplorable (although understandable when you feel that is the only to make your point heard).

My point is that no doubt Jonathan Davies, Brian Moore, etc get trolled all the time....

    Re: Sonja drama

I think that if I was sitting in my car crying I wouldn't share that with the world unless I wanted to use my vulnerability as a weapon.

I don't think you can have it both ways. Be a 'hard arse'...
  17. Re: That ball is apparently still in the ruck.

pause the video at game time 27:13. Ball has emerged from ruck but Itoje is in front of his offside line. He would need to retire a step to be able to compete. A tight call as others have said.

    Sonja drama

I have such mixed thoughts on this.

    1. Interviewer (gender irrelevant) clearly attempts to bait Farrell
    2. Interviewer cops social media abuse for doing so
    3. Interviewer sits in car crying...
  19. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

I like the NRL bunker system.

Ref says "I think it's a try [or not]". Then over to bunker to confirm or deny.
  20. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

if the ref is doing his own TMOing off the big screen makes me wonder what the purpose of the chap in the box is

[In-goal] Re: PK after the try - with a difference

    let's consider a simpler event.

In 41st minute of 1st half Red knock-on and Blue gain no advantage.

    1. As ref is bringing whistle to lips to blow for no-side, Blue player punches Red player....
  22. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

it wasn't the TMO making the call. The ref watched the replay on the screen and reached his own conclusion. When he asked if anyone disagreed, they couldn't really do anything but keep schtum.
