[QUOTE=Marc Wakeham;377035]What would you have done if the team taking the tap were 5 point up rather

Probably the same. If I thought they were being smartasses and trying to end the game I might...

    Re: Colours?

Interesting - never heard of this happening in Australia, either as a ref or as a coach/manager/committeman

[Law] Re: Incorrectly taken free kick

13A's - very good players mostly having played in district representative teams at the State championships earlier in the season, and a semi final, so end of the season. They knew full well how to...

    Re: Colours?

Had that a few years ago. My club had all red, with white lining and we played against a team that normally wears navy with red hoops, but for some reason we're wearing a red heritage jersey.. then...

[Law] Re: Incorrectly taken free kick

I was doing an Under 13 semi final 5 or so years back. Time up, team trailing by 5 had a penalty, took tap incorrectly. I blew it up and called full time. Noone complained.

Re: Luke Pearce = Very impressive

Haha I knew I liked him. That's my pet hate of presenters. If you are going to just read slides, email them to me and I'll read them myself in my own time.

    Luke Pearce = Very impressive

Calm, good natured, talks through things sensibly and best of all uses the TMO for assistance not direction

Really really good. I liked "OK, OK I don't need 13 voices"

    Re: Springboks v Lions

Personally I think if aplayer jumps they are responsible for having a safe place to land. While other players have to allow them that space, they shouldn't be penalised for standing their ground.

    Re: Springboks v Lions

Struggling to know what the Boks alternative was. He had eyes on the ball and was in position where it was due to land. The Lion launches himself recklessly

  15. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

Yep, along with "you know it's a red straight away". Seriously if you have to watch in frame by frame from 50 angles , it's not yellow let alone red
  16. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

"Any contact with the chest and neck was incidental"
  17. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

I was thinking more the "infringement has been committed" bit. The tribunal said there was no infringement :-)
  18. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

My experience is that if you go in and plead innocent then the judiciary are off side straight away. It's not a court of law. When I take guys up it's always something like "yes I may have contacted...
  19. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

Best bet is always admit the charge. I've got plenty of guys off at the judiciary with a "send off sufficient" or "no case to answer" after they have admitted something happened. Managed to get a ref...
  20. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

Better yet, give TMO one job, was the ball cleanly grounded by a player in the field of play. No foul play, no going back to prior phases, no.obstructions ....
  21. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

    or not
  22. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

Thank (insert deity here) that sanity has prevailed
  23. That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

Australia v France. Most ridiculous decision, and not entirely the ref's fault

    Re: Upcoming law changes

He means the experimental law where attacker held up in goal is a drop out, not an attacking 5m scrum. Less incentive to bash and barge

    Re: NZ Schoolboy Rugby

I think that was the same tour. I reffed the first XV game. My boy played the second XV.
