  1. [7's/10's] Re: What is the definition of the playing a ball in the scrum?

Did we all not get clear guidance on this at the Ruck a few years back?

Lifted and clear of the legs so it could be passed either way. Give the benefit of the doubt to the 'lifter' or we'll...
  2. [Law] Re: Law Change Proposal - Scrum or FK option after Knock-on

Can I put in a word for the community level of the game?; how are we going to keep players of all shapes and sizes if we keep changing the laws to suit TV rugby? If we don't keep the community game...
  3. [Law] Re: PK knock on played by opponent within 10m of the mark...

Two offences; Knock on and not 10m. First offence (if other player retreating and not interfering with play) is knock on -so go with that. Everyone will be expecting you to, even the Blue team.

    [Tackle] Re: Game Management (?)

Watched a recent game with exactly this problem. I suggested to the ref he should specifically tell the players what they were doing wrong as they were clearly not understanding the laws in the same...
  5. [Law] Re: Ball kicked hits overhanging tree branch and falls back onto pitch

If all participants can see the tree but still kick the ball into it how can they dispute the the decision of the person who comes up with a reasoned argument for a lineout?

    Re: These goal line dropouts

As a match observer I'll admit to wearing RFU branded kit on specific occasions. I hope it tells folk that I have at least half an idea of what I am talking about, but it doesn't always work. I also...

    Re: Line out maul

It was to allow a "Peeler". We did have a spell of 'musical chairs' a few years back to confuse the opposition but we all came to believe that it looked silly, and it died a natural death

    Re: thoughts on this one

Left over from the days of forming a divot for the ball -or a pile of sand, the ball could fall over -the chargers prevented the kick With the new fangled plastic trumpets the ball does not fall over.

  12. [Law] Re: Can you have a quick goal line drop out?

A fabulous scenario that no-one could have imagined. Scrum 5 is fair, option to retake kick by receiving team? I bet no-one queried your decision.

Re: Charity Game with scrums and new laws!

The problem for me if you call "Taken Back" is that you are giving a possible advantage of avoiding an error to the defending team -to the disadvantage of the attacking team.

    Doesn't sit well with...

Re: Charity Game with scrums and new laws!

Please only vocalise 'taken back' IF the ball is kicked -the kicker should know the laws without you coaching him.
  16. [Tackle] Re: Head contact, with force, with mitigation - not even a PK?

No big screen, no TMO, no AR????? Welcome to the real world of rugby.
  17. [Maul] Re: Binding in front of the Ball Carrier/back foot.

Why are they doing it, if not to gain an advantage?

[Law] Re: Why isn't this pre binding penalised ?

Tackling two oncoming players at the same time is more dangerous than tackling just one. Perhaps this is another reason to encourage lower tackles rather than just bash into each other.
  23. Re: Boot advice needed for achilles injury - new ref

Take every comment from an Assessor, coach, player, spectator, barman etc with a pinch of salt; there MAY be something in what they say, or they may be biased, or unsighted, or not up to date on the...
