    [Tackle] Re: Lifting Tackle

    I despair.

    Monkey see, monkey do.

The elites do it, and it gets generally permitted (though they do get pinged for it when its egregious ) ... so monkey coach sees it and coaches it to his...

    [Tackle] Re: Lifting Tackle

I guess if its becoming a trend in a game, you can start blowing immediately you see a lifted tackle "begin" and PK it as dangerous play.

I appreciate that in reality even that is possibly too...
  6. [Maul] Re: Binding in front of the Ball Carrier/back foot.

Is this however an example of where the community game plays the laws, while the elite game (possibly what Phil was alluding to) has some sort of flexible subset with their own agreed interpretations...

A restart/kick off is not a penalty kick.

    So "no".
  9. [Maul] Re: Binding in front of the Ball Carrier/back foot.

How many years ago is it now that PoB as head of referees said squint scrum feeds were to be dealt with?

    Re: Hand-off heights

    I don't disagree at all.

I _think_ what others are alluding to is when the tackler chooses to come in high, and the ball carrier's fend is to the tackler's head/chin/throat/neck/face, with force....

Re: Where are you this weekend 20/21?

yeah - if the "cost" of rugby NOW is fewer scrums and more useless FKs then it will do.

in the medium to longer tewrm FKs could do with a review as to a suitable "punishment" coas giving away a...

Re: Where are you this weekend 20/21?

For the avoidance of doubt I was alluding to the use of a FK to reduce intimate face to face poximity during the pandemic.

Persoanlly I think FKs are a total and utter waste of time generally...

Re: Where are you this weekend 20/21?

and in more normal times why a FK outside one's own 22 anyway is pretty toothless.

its a useful scrum replacement currently of course.

    Re: Another stand-up tackle

I dont see what the issue is. the laws/regs/guidelines etc require head contact (including neck and throat "area" - Whatever TF "area" means in this context being the ONLY caveat) for cards.

    It...

why wa sthe ref fixated on the shoulder to the head query? Does he think that head to head woudnt matter ? the TMo was clearly not mentioning any body parts making potential contact. And even after...

presumabkly just becasue Luke Pearce does it doesnt mean its right ?

  18. [Law] Re: When and why the intentional knock-on rule was added to the rugby laws?

all Im saying is that for all the talk in theory of intent not being considered, its clear that intent is considered constantly. As demonstrated by the TMO and ref in that E v I game.

    meanwhile in...
  19. [Law] Re: When and why the intentional knock-on rule was added to the rugby laws?

    Re: Penalty Try

i reckon... I "scored" a PT once (tap and charge at a 5m PK, tackled by a player not retreated to goal line etc).

It didnt "feel" like I'd scored.

  25. [Law] Re: When and why the intentional knock-on rule was added to the rugby laws?

You might say that - I couldn't POSSIBLY comment.

    ;-)

OK I will. Over jealous and unempathetic refereeing. A total lack of understanding of what had just happened, and why the interpretations...
