    Re: Global Law Trials

If we gave a 22 drop last year, and the the trial makes no mention of this particular situation, it makes sense to give a 22 drop this year.

    Re: Global Law Trials

I think the point of the variation is to forbid pre-binding before contact, not before the ball carrier receives the ball. Or have I missed something?

    Re: Global Law Trials

The distinction between grounding the ball and running it into TIG or beyond the DBL is odd. In the 5th video (Hurricanes/Crusaders) Barrett could have gained himself a 22 by running two steps to...

    Re: Penalty Try

I had a situation a couple of seasons ago where the attacking winger broke clear down the right tram lines into the goal area. As he ran towards the posts he was clothes lined by a defender and lost...

[Law] Re: Contact with the head

I suspect the reduction in the number of scrums in RL is more covid related than anything else given how they are used in league, but I stand to be corrected.

    MLR law trials

I have reservations about the limit of two scrums per incident.

  9. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

This isn't what you are looking for, but in the 44th minute of Worcester vs Bristol, a Bristol ball carrier lost the ball forwards, then knocked it back without catching it as he fell. I don't think...

But it punishes the offending team with a potentially significant loss of territory as well as the loss of the ball. It is not so much about rewarding a team that kicks the ball out as punishing a...
  13. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

I've been in the same room with Ruiz speaking in English. Like the other French referees his English is functional, and he can carry on a conversation, but a French referee speaking with a French...

You are right. We finished the 1992 season (May to October for us ) under the old laws, and changed to the new ones in 1993.

    [Law] Re: touch after pk

Much longer than 10 years ago. I retired from playing 15 years ago and it was a well established law then. Could it not have been in the 1993 changes?

    Legality of the ankle tap

Was there ever a time that the ankle tap was considered illegal? If so when did the change occur either in law or in practice to allow it? The question came up in our Facebook group.

    [In-goal] Re: Danny Care Try

Can a tackle occur in-goal? According to the definitions tackles occur in the field of play. If there is no tackle, there is no need to release.
