[Tackle] Re: Position at tap FK/penalty

I'll try to set up on the A line if I can, between the first and second receiver but ready to move inwards if the pod appears and drop in behind them. I think it (like all positioning) its a bit of...

[Law] Re: Incorrectly taken free kick

Nice childish swipe at an entire ref association.
  3. [7's/10's] Re: What is the definition of the playing a ball in the scrum?

I'd also note that in the majority of scrums with the 8 on their feet there likely wouldn't be the same sort of picture as you might see in a ruck. Also their 6/7 should be doing their job and...
  4. [7's/10's] Re: What is the definition of the playing a ball in the scrum?

    In my book, yep.
  5. [7's/10's] Re: What is the definition of the playing a ball in the scrum?

Is that any different for a ruck?
  6. [7's/10's] Re: What is the definition of the playing a ball in the scrum?

Lifted out for mine along the same lines as a ruck, if a bird could sh*t on it and its off the ground then its out.
  7. [Law] Re: Law Change Proposal - Scrum or FK option after Knock-on

My problem with being able to select FK or scrum is in the 79th minute, White knocks on, less than a score in it, blue captain buggers about for 10-30 seconds until time expires then selects FK, taps...
  8. [7's/10's] Re: What is the definition of the playing a ball in the scrum?

I'd agree with that sentiment - with some exceptions depending on how much "advice" I'd been getting from the 9....
  9. [7's/10's] Re: What is the definition of the playing a ball in the scrum?

As ever the laws are inconsistent. The 8/rearmost player is required to pick the ball up to end a scrum, but a 9 only has to touch it.

It might be a long day of looking at screens but I can't see...
  10. [7's/10's] Re: What is the definition of the playing a ball in the scrum?

Then as the 9 I'd let the ball sit there in the scrum if I couldn't easily reach it and make the referee deal with any delay. We've won the scrum so we'll get the feed if it becomes unplayable right?
  11. [7's/10's] Re: What is the definition of the playing a ball in the scrum?

    36.

    The scrum ends:

When the ball comes out of the scrum in any direction except the tunnel.
When the ball reaches the feet of the hindmost player and it is picked up by that player or is...
  12. Re: Erasmus banned form all rugby for 2 months, mathday activity for 12 months

I'd suspect that SA rugby weren't making attending their first priority either.
  13. Re: Erasmus banned form all rugby for 2 months, mathday activity for 12 months

The 80 page ruling document does go into why it took so long to deliver the document. COVID and timezones.
  14. Re: Wal v Aus: Coach Verbally Attacks Officials

I think the difference between a post game interview blow up and a calculated preparation of a video, deliberately leaked after an attempt to coerce (or blackmail) the MO with the leak might see...

[Kit] Re: Smart Watch App for Refs?

Their choice, not mine. I'll tell them my running score but if I have to waste time adding up the actual tally, what's the difference with the team looking to the side line?
  16. Re: So when is Rassie Erasmus gong to get sanctioned for coaching on the field?

Not if its how he feels - and we don't know what effect its had on his wife and close family. Imagine being in his shoes while half of the rugby fans in SA pile on with abuse and vitriol in the...
  17. Re: Erasmus banned form all rugby for 2 months, mathday activity for 12 months

SA social media is awash with outrage and claims of match and competition fixing by WR. Some claim that if it was a AUS/NZ coach attacking a SA referee in the way Erasmus did that it would all be...
  18. Re: Tactical replacement cannot kick at goal !!

I guess no times to substitute a FR when scrums were much more dynamic and quickly formed before the modern heavier boys decided we all needed a 30 second rest before every scrum.

    Re: Scotland's first try

My emphasis - in this case they are exploiting a loophole which prevents the opposition from having a realistic chance at competing. Turning their back to the defence then having a team mate latch...

    Re: Scotland's first try

    My emphasis.

Except in this case the ball is not at the front but the ball carrier. Other blue players are between the ball and opposition and is preventing a reasonable contest. Its a pet peeve...

Re: England vs Australia - Last Try

So not offside in open play?

10.1 A player is offside in open play if that player is in front of a team-mate who is carrying the ball or who last played it. An offside player must not interfere...

    [Tackle] Re: Game Management (?)

Can't award a RC for persistent foul play from a team.

I'd find it hard to believe that 4 YC worthy tackles out of the 10 high didn't have one which tripped over into RC territory.

    I'd start...

England vs Australia - Last Try

Didn't want to hijack Dickie E's other thread.

The last England try in the 80th minute. Intercept and white (no number) is running down the wing.

White 16 is offside when the intercept is...

[Kit] Re: Smart Watch App for Refs?

Each team is required to keep score via the rugby xplorer app so I just tell them to ask their manager. I do keep a running tally of scores in my head and a paper card in my pocket.

    Re: Scotland's first try

The pre-latch and trundle/drive is the most dangerous part of this move. The only realistic way of stopping it this close to the line is to hit the legs of the "maul" early. This means players in...
