    Re: Springboks v Lions

Personally I think if aplayer jumps they are responsible for having a safe place to land. While other players have to allow them that space, they shouldn't be penalised for standing their ground.

    Re: Springboks v Lions

Struggling to know what the Boks alternative was. He had eyes on the ball and was in position where it was due to land. The Lion launches himself recklessly

  4. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

Yep, along with "you know it's a red straight away". Seriously if you have to watch in frame by frame from 50 angles , it's not yellow let alone red

"Any contact with the chest and neck was incidental"
  6. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

I was thinking more the "infringement has been committed" bit. The tribunal said there was no infringement :-)
  7. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

My experience is that if you go in and plead innocent then the judiciary are off side straight away. It's not a court of law. When I take guys up it's always something like "yes I may have contacted...
  8. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

Best bet is always admit the charge. I've got plenty of guys off at the judiciary with a "send off sufficient" or "no case to answer" after they have admitted something happened. Managed to get a ref...
  9. Re: That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

Better yet, give TMO one job, was the ball cleanly grounded by a player in the field of play. No foul play, no going back to prior phases, no.obstructions ....

Thank (insert deity here) that sanity has prevailed
  12. That's done it for me. Goodbye rugby I'm out

Australia v France. Most ridiculous decision, and not entirely the ref's fault

    Re: Upcoming law changes

He means the experimental law where attacker held up in goal is a drop out, not an attacking 5m scrum. Less incentive to bash and barge

    Re: NZ Schoolboy Rugby

I think that was the same tour. I reffed the first XV game. My boy played the second XV.

    Re: NZ Schoolboy Rugby

My son's (now 22) three favourite rugby moments were facing Hakas in NZ and in Australia with a touring NZ team and playing a touring English school team (Grammar School at Leeds)

    Re: NZ Schoolboy Rugby

I just love Hakas, especially school ones. They are all about respect. If you see some if the ones for retiring teachers, funerals etc they are great.

I love the way a number of the opposition...

    Re: new Head Contact Process

Much better system - esp as if dangerous or reckless we still revert to the old system. Its like the contact in the air a few years back - go stupid to start with then get more realistic

  22. Re: Does anyone think the 20/21 season will start?

In New South Wales most amateur comps are coming to and end after generally playing half seasons (one round rather than home & away).

Shute Shield has a few weeks to go

    Most community cricket...

Re: STE to hook, Wasps Bath

    Fair enough.

At my club (mainly because we are one of the rare breed that play 80 min games) we will generally sub off a FR after about 30, and he will go back on for the last 20. Occasionally a...

Re: STE to hook, Wasps Bath

Also our system if grades all playing at tbe same ground helps because clubs should always have enough front rowers at the ground, even if some have to back up for multiple games on the day

Re: STE to hook, Wasps Bath

Thats interesting. Here everyone uses all their interchanges. If only to give everyone game time. If a guy didnt get at least 20 mins on he probably wouldnt be back the next week
