    [Law] Re: New Touch Laws!!

So does that now mean that if a kick off bounces into touch (after the clock is dead) that the game hasn't restarted and it has to be taken again? Just as if they kicked it straight into touch?

  5. [Maul] Re: Binding in front of the Ball Carrier/back foot.

Along with long arm transfers that I now see most weeks but never gets penalised anymore. The flavour of the month doesn't last long.

    Re: Hand-off heights

The referee already decides on whether a Hand-off is dangerous/foul play?

If the Fend is with force, that is foul play and can be dealt with by a PK and (if neccesary) a card.

    Law 9 Foul Play...

Maybe their vision is focused on the defenders so they don't see the attackers?

    Re: Another stand-up tackle

If you could see there was no head contact at full speed in a live situation with no other input from AR's or TMO then you are a better man than me? Would depend a lot on the angle you see it at as...

    Re: Another stand-up tackle

I think in our situation with one view only, no AR's or TMO, we would all have given something (wouldn't we) for that tackle based on the uprightness/height of the tackle and the whiplash effect on...

    Re: Penalty Try

I think more to the point the law doesn't require the ref to "run off" at all.
It requires him to signal the penalty try, but doesn't stipulate it has to be done straight away.

    PENALTY TRY
    A...

    Re: Penalty Try

    In answer to the OP

Yes the ref has to run under the posts to signal a penalty try. It tells everyone that there wont be a conversion required and more importantly that the Ref has seen whatever...

Re: Messy lineout - saints v gloucester

The penalty is for the back man (green) at the lineout crossing the line of touch. You can see the referee indicate that he has crossed the line of touch.

Being beyond the 15m line at the start...

Re: Messy lineout - saints v gloucester

    I'm not sure either.
He definitely signals offside in the lineout (not in the backs).
Hard to see but sounded/looked like the green player crossed the line of touch (not past the 15) and hadn't...

    [Law] Re: England v France - 24/4/2921

    I agree with that.

When I asked a couple of Premiership referees this questions a season or so ago their pragmatic answer was, if the kick was not taken correctly then play hasn't restarted. so...

    [Law] Re: England v France - 24/4/2921

Quite correct, we were repeatedly told there were no changes to any laws in the simplified version of the law book (2018).

However as has been pointed out there were unintended consequences, and I...

    [Law] Re: France v England - 30/4/2021

The mitigation comment was in relation to the minimal head contact, for which mitigation is allowed in the head contact protocol.

In fact mitigation in foul play happens all the time, as we as...

I seem to be in a minority of one here, but for me the YC was the right call. Mitigate down from a Red because of Whites actions.

    [Law] Re: England v France - 24/4/2921

But it doesn't say who gets the put in, and it's not covered in the list of scrum infringements?
I am guessing the none offending team but it's not clear.
