    Re: Global Law Trials

Fair. If you want the 50/22 from a restart, kick from behind the line!

    Re: Biggar Taken in Air?

I'd personally be in favour of that certainly at the elite end of the game. Less keen on it in amateur rugby. The incidents that do get out of hand worry me.

    Re: Biggar Taken in Air?

Too many variables to make it work consistently I think.

Whose head? How would we judge it from week to week? Different referee heights/viewing angles? AR wide view? Only TMO? Is a bounce only off...

Re: Quins v Exeter - Fortunate?

I thought one of the previous scrums had a good shout for a PT, but probably not the one that was eventually given. I also think CR could have given another pen/YC at either the offside, or the scrum...

    [INTERNATIONAL] Re: That haka

Nice formation from England, seemed like the ABs didn't know where to direct their gaze/focus

    Re: Are TMOs Ruining Things

16 pages dissecting the laws on an apparently "C&O" offence. I'm surprised they aren't still playing!

Re: Folau Yc - what a joke

I thought the Gold 16 was on his feet, strong on the ball, and the ref went the wrong way.
  11. Re: Ref Blocking defender in build up to try (France vs ABís 3rd Test)

Possibly. I don't agree with all of that - it's not covered in law, and we're asked to referee with sensitivity.

There's a big difference between what happened, and next week's referee who's only...
  12. Re: Ref Blocking defender in build up to try (France vs ABís 3rd Test)

    Law 19 - Scrum:
The referee awards a scrum for any other reason not covered in law
In the scrum zone at the point closest to the place of stoppage
The team that was last moving forward or, if...
  13. Re: What can WR do about Red Cards ruining games for the fans?

Of course, there's always plenty of examples! I've aired my view on that particular tackle elsewhere, and also asked a question in that thread on here which could still do with an answer...

  14. Re: What can WR do about Red Cards ruining games for the fans?

It only really seems to me that in the air challenges are the seriously contentious RCs around. High shots and shoulders tend to be a bit more clear cut, no?

If so, maybe WR could say something...
  15. Re: What can WR do about Red Cards ruining games for the fans?

What about the team that's 12 points up and gives up a player on a YC knowing only 7-10 points can be scored, and they'll still be ahead when their man comes back?

The amount of times the score is...

[Tackle] Re: New Zealand Vs France

A previous couple of quotes from you Ian seem to suggest that tackling high is the risk that the tackler takes? I do accept that these were in relation to a ball carrier ducking, but your inference...

  19. Re: NatWest 6 Nations 2018 Championship - talking points

DC has also been instrumental in a lot of good things that have happened in the last couple of years. 9 years has ago has no relevance whatsoever now. Your constant anti-English posts are so boring.
  20. Re: NatWest 6 Nations 2018 Championship - talking points

They can be "reckless" or "accidental".

Accidental = unintentional, and includes situations where players slip into tackles. I think there was potentially a case here where a player diving for the...

Re: Red Card in Northampton V Bath

RC is fine, can't lead with the head.
Talk to the Bath player, there was little need to react like that, but it's not really worth a card itself.
  22. Re: NatWest 6 Nations 2018 Championship - talking points

I don't particularly like it, because my opinion is that if you're doing that then the "offence" has had enough of an effect on the game that it should be dealt with in the first place.

    The TV is...
  23. Re: NatWest 6 Nations 2018 Championship - talking points

    That does surprise me :)
  24. Re: NatWest 6 Nations 2018 Championship - talking points

How do you think they keep their penalty count so low? Wait and see. No issue with that approach really, but he didn't do it consistently throughout the match.
  25. Re: NatWest 6 Nations 2018 Championship - talking points

Stand there in freezing temperatures and wind, and cool down, of course.

Or just behave like adults and walk off!
