  3. [Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

As ArabCheif says, in theory, almost every tackle is dangerous, and those at speed - ball carrier or tackler - even more so.

So it seems that this tackle wasn't simply dangerous, it was...

Re: Quins v Worcs: Noah Heward YC

So, Red bought the decision by taking a reasonable course of action to catch a ball above his head.
Jordie Barrett sticks his foot in someone's face and should be excused because...well, some...
  5. [Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

He obviously got good advice. "If you fight and lose, oit's 24 weeks. Cop a plea and 'only' get 12"

You can argue the legality all you like. But the 24 weeks is just ridiuclous as a starting point
  6. Re: Interesting story reference tackle height. Where will it lead?

I susepct that the limitation is, once again, aimed at the top end of the sport where they have concerns about day in, day out contact, and not Joe Schmoe who might trurn up to training once a week.

Re: Where are you this weekend - 2021/22?

This weekend I shall mainly be in Townsville, watching NZ take on RSA and Aus play Argentina.

Tickets for the whole day, organized by my incredibly smart wife for my birthday.
  10. Re: 2 incidents - Wallabies v Springboks 18/9/21

This smacks to me of an evolving philosophy about how foul play and players are treated. The use of the word intent, and the desire to exculpate players - which strikes me as a deliberate stance -...
  11. Re: 2 incidents - Wallabies v Springboks 18/9/21

My take was TMO talking him up to a red card, then suddenly realizing that was a bit harsh and trying to walk him back from the ledge that he put him on.
Pearce would have handled that differently.

  13. Re: 2 incidents - Wallabies v Springboks 18/9/21

I was yelling at the tv for the second incident and just couldn't understand their rationale.

The unkind bit of my persona wondered if there was hangover from the Swinton yellow; I felt that was...

    1. Coming from the man whop rejected the opinion of other international experts in the area who weren't being paid by the ABs, that's a bit ****ing rich.

    Re: Rugby 12s

If the players sign up for it, I don't want to hear any moaning about being overplayed.

This may be tricky to get off the ground with players who are centrally contracted,

I think we may be at risk of concentrating on the wrong issues.

Barrett got himself up there. He has an obligation to look after himself in a way that doesn't endanger other players. He signally...

**** me. I can understand lack of intent, but to argue it wasn't reckless strikes me as...well, let's say odd. I don't want to inadvertently libel anyone.

Oh, I watched that whole debacle live, and Ian's right. Australia were so bad the local U12 blind school could have beaten them. NZ actually improved the points difference when down to 14.

[Line out] Re: Asking for Numbers

TBH, in my head it isn't a 'spirit of the game' question.
If that happened live, I wouldn't count for 7, in the same way that of they call "5" I don't check the throwing team. I just count the...
