Re: Whistle recommendation for new coach

I always used the 558. Black plastic or whatever.

I think it is the loudest and has the deepest tone.

    Re: Watyagonnado

I think that is forgiveable to be honest. No sense in holding up the game so that an injured player can limp off the field. I would have waited for the player to get some distance away and then...

    Re: Watyagonnado

I think I start with a scrum, blue ball, where it hit the player going off. I would be uncomfortable playing on in that situation. Not sure if there is a law reference, but that is what I would do.

    Re: MLR law trials

Our juniors play like that, unless it has changed recently. It does allow for the ball to get out of the scrum easier.

Not sure about whether it is necessary for seniors though.

I like the between the posts change.

I don't foresee any real issues with a ref making the call.

When we discuss law most people take this site seriously. When debating extraneous matters we don't.

Crossref is a bit of a contrarian.

    [Law] Re: touch after pk

    I don't think it's odd at all.

These days the team throwing the ball in wins about 80-90% of the time. If a team has offended the other team should have the option of moving upfield and getting...

Repetitive base trolling. Far below the level I would expect from a sports reporter.

    Do you not agree.

1992 I believe. Pretty confident it was immediately after the 1991 RWC.

[Law] Re: Superbowl - advantage question.

This scenario happened in a Super Rugby game a few years ago.

The Waratahs were winning against somebody, but they needed to get a 4 try bonus point to have any hope of advancing.

    The ref...

Realistically they are mandatory at all levels. Ardie Savea is an idiot for not wearing one.

Re: Does anyone think the 20/21 season will start?

We had a shortened club/school season this year. Secondary school has just finished while clubs had their finals a few weeks ago. I think clubs played about 10 weeks or so, about half normal...

Re: How Long will He Likely be Banned for?

Kicking goals was never the issue for him as I recall. Flakiness and poor temperament let him down.

Good to see a New Plymouth lad go OK.

As an aside, I see Gopperth kicked a lot of goals in that game.

How is he going up north? He never really made it down here, but with experience he might have improved a bit.

[Law] Re: Why isn't this offisde under 10m law ?

  25. Re: Crowds to return for opening round of Super Rugby Aotearoa

I don't think so. People have been complaining about he breakdown for years. Last 2 years the balance has been good and there has been a lot of excellent rugby played.
