WADR, that isn't what needs to happen.
    Your issue is ill-founded.

  3. [Law] Re: When and why the intentional knock-on rule was added to the rugby laws?

    I'm OK with that card.

He was in position to regather the ball, it went forward and denied Red their ability to play what they wanted in the red zone. Sometimes in the law book "intentional" means...

[Kit] Re: Ref's shorts with back pocket?

NT supplies our shorts. Two side pockets, as seems standard everywhere in the world I've reffed.

    Re: rewarding

It will be a semantic debate that ends up going nowhere, and I struggle to understand how it leads anyone astray.

Let's take a scrum. Blue get a strong nudge on and continue to exert legal...

    [Law] Re: Law variations

The Captain's Challenge isn't new here - the NRL have been using it for a while.

The worst thing about it isn't the challenge itself. It's the peabrained commentators. Here's what I can guarantee...
  7. [Tackle] Re: Head clash, with force, "accidental" = no card? women's 6N

Any half decent lawyer in a disciplinary hearing is going to quote that.m "yes, we admit there was contact to the head, but my client was trying to wrap. Following the recent decision, the card...
  8. [Tackle] Re: Head clash, with force, "accidental" = no card? women's 6N

If that had been a shoulder charge, I can understand that mitigation.
I'm not sure I understand how attempting to wrap mitigates a head to head collision. This seems to me to be a cop out.
  9. [Tackle] Re: Head clash, with force, "accidental" = no card? women's 6N

    Agreed.
Somewhere in the continuum in between “deliberate” and “accidental” there is “reckless” and/or “with no consideration for the safety of the opponent”.
  10. [Tackle] Re: Head clash, with force, "accidental" = no card? women's 6N

Straight red. Do not pass Go. Do not collect Match Bonus.

She leads with her head. I don't believe it's deliberate, but that isn't the point. Head to head, with no mitigating factors I can see....

    [Law] Re: Clarification 1 "021

A Federated model is the best way to get close to it. But I think we need to be honest when we say that there is a correlation between the standard of game and the chances of referee consistency.

    [Law] Re: Clarification 1 "021

My experience in the US is that is not the case. Consistency is actually driven better at the local level.

GMGs produce theoretical consistency, not practical.

I’d call that a breach of 3.7 and treat it accordingly

    [Law] Re: Clarification 1 "021

Somewhatsarcastically, if you’re worrying THAT much about the timing of your YC returns week after week, perhaps you should be worrying less about the referee and more about your shitty discipline?

That would disngenuous bordering on lying though.

I agree with Didds. If we see what teh decision is, I'm not sure using spurious reasoning like "the game should be decided by the players" cuts...
  21. Re: Match Official Developer App - your input please

I use a different app called Referee Coach, which is simple to use.

The screen on that one looks awfully busy to me.
