    [In-goal] Re: 6.11.A

Need to gain an advantage though? But maybe an attacking player runs into a sub warming up, prevents a tackle, therefore attacking team gain an advantage therefore try?

    Re: Watyagonnado

Don’t disagree, I’m assuming the refs decision making around the injured player on the pitch has already gone to pot so ignoring that aspect
  3. Re: Match Official Developer App - your input please

This is why the initial app is a generic referees watch / phone app, all sports, customisable and generic and free to all - with the possible monetisation plan, maximum audience, maximum feedback,...
  4. Re: Match Official Developer App - your input please

For this app, individual ref / coach (A society targeted version could be done but would be a different product and rugby specific), all functions would be on watch / phone. A society based app...
  5. Re: Match Official Developer App - your input please

Interesting comments, Iím in the early stages of a generic Apple Watch referees app that will also work as a phone / tablet app, it will also have a pro mode where dictation and timeline export would...

    [Law] Re: Clarification 1 "021

Agree, if the ball is dead, or effectively dead, and no quick tap then why not, just like I’d let them make subs, get everyone set, and restart when ready.

    Re: Watyagonnado

See, I was inclined to play on (based on the players and effect the bounce had) as doesn’t look like anyone was disadvantaged (wider angle view may change that opinion) but sure, can understand the...

    Re: France v Scotland

But as this thread shows, there are scenarios where a PT could (should?) be given, certainly in the ‘more advantageous position‘ scenario where it’s not, I think there would be a lot more PT’s if...

    Re: France v Scotland

I think some have missed my point, we’re talking about scenarios where we know, in law, that PT’s aren’t given, when they could technically be, but an actual try has been and that’s what we award. ...

    Re: France v Scotland

Same response with anyone challenging a decision, and you can engage in a discussion as much as you like before hand if you what, but ultimately “That’s not how I saw it” can’t really argue with that

    Re: France v Scotland

Not wrong in law, but Try in the corner, and a firm word with the lazy runner for putting the consideration of a PT in your head. Almost without fail players, coaches and spectators want the game won...

[Law] Re: Why isn't this pre binding penalised ?

Indeed, as in the guidance for the Covid amended laws there's no maul (Binding) but latching on is allowed

[Law] Re: Why isn't this pre binding penalised ?

Just been penalised by Karl Dixon in Leicester vs Falcons, warned them 3 times even to the point of don’t bind until take contact, they did anyway, penalty against.

[In-goal] Re: Tackle from field of play into in-goal

Have to see it really, but if as I’m imagining it and the tackle doesn’t complete till in goal then I’m not expecting the tackler to roll, but I’m also not going to let them scrabble around for long...

That's the claim, I've seen enough silly incidents like that to believe him - doesn't mean he escapes sanction if he catches him in the head mind, always the retaliator that gets the worst sanction -...

It's discussed at the beginning of the good, the bad, the rugby podcast (Ellis is a co presenter) and he describes it as your normal, being held in to the ruck, swinging arms to get out / up,...

[Law] Re: "Try or no try" TMO query protocol

    don’t think so, from https://laws.worldrugby.org/downloads/TMO_Trial_From_August_2019_EN.pdf

The referee will then state the on-field decision and ask the TMO for any specific footage, either to...
  21. Re: Wales vs Eng - Knock on and Time back on after asking captain to speak to players

    Re: WR Head contact framework

Agree, 5 looks to be a higher degree of force - however, I don't fancy making a judgement call on 1 full speed view out in the sticks, if a player stays down that could easily influence that process

    Re: WR Head contact framework

I don't think this is instead of, this is as well as. The high tackle framework is very specific in that it focusses on attempts to tackle, or foul play around it (ie attempt to wrap or arms tucked)...
