    Default yellow card Q.

when issuing a yellow card for obvious infringments is it normal to call capt over and explain. I do in the less obvious ones, but dont in the others.
should i call capt for all YC?

Yes, and ensure your secondary signals are clear to those on the touchline.

Obvious to you may not be obvious to anyone else.

After this Manhandled I will make a point of calling Captain out if only to allow a bit of time to diffuse the situation.

However, I'd say this changes in 7s, It's all about speed and allowing play to continue so a lot of this the card is shown and we are off.

    Good points lads, thanks.
On the secondary signals, has an assessor point out to be more clear, ie step away a little from players then give a clear and obvious secondary.

On the not so frequent infringments, do you make up a secondary signal?
eg testicle grabbing , foot trip , hair pulling ..........etc

Oh yes, the clearer you can make them the better the people who don't know what's going on will, so yes make up your signal.

Though be careful with what you chose to do to represent testicle grabbing.

A yellow card is a management tool........so manage the showing of it and use the opportunity to reinforce to Captain what you won't put up with.

    Write down details.
    Say what you saw.
Say how you intend to deal with it.
    Signals and restart.

Don't forget to speak to the offender when/if he comes back on.
