    Default unexpected downtime

Just so you are all aware, over the last few weeks we had been getting hackers getting in and planting scripts around the place. (As spotted by a few members).

I got rid of the issue and fixed how they got in, but needed to take the site fully offline (hence the suspension note) to check for any other affects that I had missed.

We are now all complete and running 100% clean, and after removing all that rubbish, probably a bit faster too.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but it seemed to be a world wide attack on this type of software.

    Phew!

I though it was something I had done!
He trudg’d along unknowing what he sought,
And whistled as he went, for want of thought.

Thanks Robbie. Must have been a right pain for you.

Can someone explain why hackers attack sites like this? What are they trying to achieve? I can understand people wanting money or to make a political point. Are sites like these just a 'training' ground?

They are attacking the software because they have found a hole to get in.

Then they leave corrupt URL's hidden, people like you guys innocently click on somewhere normal, and then your computer gets a virus.

Overall, after last nights efforts, I agree with the post directly above!

They are the cyberspace analogue of vandals
