from what I can see, I find no reason to penalise at all.

    Video?

Any thoughts on the crucial goal line penalty? Ref calls hands away and then player goes in at the side with his hands and "wins" the penalty.

    Nige right or wrong?

What about the farce with time at the end?

A farce of his own making, though the TMO/clock/timekeeper didn't help.

He blew on 79:01 on the TV clock. Assuming it was correct, he had no need to hassle Exeter to hurry up, stopping the clock and then asking for it to go back 5s etc etc.

Agree about the clock. Also Nige asked for the time when the ball passed through the post. With a conversion it is the time when the ball is kicked Law 5.8.C Is it not the same with a PK at goal? In which case the game should have restarted or is it (because the ball is live after the kick) that the ball was made dead after 80?

the whole sequence had me watching through my fingers, it was awful.

it's the time on the clock when the ball is struck that matters -- but it had all gone pear shaped long before that. 'put the clock back 5s' was the key moment, we never recovered from that

One of my mates was watching in the pub, so didn't hear any of the conversation - that must be a lot of people - he's texting me 'Wtf?"

Good question on the through the posts point.

I could see there being a difference, as you suggest, because from a penalty place kick the ball remains live after the kick. Not so for a conversion attempt.
