Not long after I left school, I played in the Old Boys matches. We put out some 4 or 5 teams (I was probably in the 6th) and at half time a couple of friends who had not made the team appeared with trays of beer (only half-pints) and a selection of cigarettes. We won quite easily.

Now that's my idea of an Old Boys' game. I remember playing in one where the gentle warm up was two pints in the bar. Great game though - obviously!
